Written By Vaishali: Author of ”You Are What You Love” and ”Wisdom Rising” Recently there has been so much time and energy given to the topic of building a mosque near the site of the Twin Towers, that it would be a shame to allow the opportunity for greater understanding to pass by without further examination.
It has been argued that this is an issue of judging and discriminating against an entire religious group due to the sociopathic actions of a select few, who were more politically motivated than anything else. If we put this “religious issue” in historical perspective, it changes the context. Hitler, a self-professed practicing Christian, committed atrocities on a much greater scale. His “final solution” was a crime of the most extreme religious bias. But at no time did anyone suggest that the construction of Christian churches be stopped, because it honors Hitler, or any other infamous, self-proclaimed, crime committing Christians. Somehow, we recognize that as myopic and small minded. (more…)
Written By Jonathan W. Emord: In 2011, hundreds of food supplements and thousands of health-benefit claims concerning food supplements will be banished from the European market as each European Union member state enforces the EU Supplements Directive of 2002. That administrative rule is one of the Western world’s most extensive experiments in centralized government planning. By order of the European Food Safety Authority, as confirmed by the European Commission, the nations of Europe will dutifully dispatch their health investigators and police to remove from the market hundreds of food supplements consumed for decades without serious complaint. As an attorney who represents businesses and interacts frequently with entrepreneurs, I hear repeatedly concerns that investigators for various federal and state agencies have become emboldened and are endeavoring to put them out of business. This widely expressed sentiment is not paranoia. It is a justified fear, and it is giving rise to a bunker mentality highly destructive to free enterprise. Many executives are holding onto their cash, hunkering down, and avoiding making moves to expand their businesses, hire more employees, or undertake new ventures because they greatly fear an unpredictable regulatory future—one where relationships with lenders and insurers are changing fundamentally and will keep changing in unforeseeable ways for years to come. Written By Attorney Jonathan Emord – Author of “The Rise of Tyranny” Marriage is a religious institution. In my faith, it is ordained of God and between a man and a woman. Freedom of religion, the right to hold religious views of one kind or another, depends on the absence of government and, most particularly, of government constraint, coercion, and cajolery. When we allow government to “recognize” religious institutions, such as marriage, we invite the establishment of orthodoxies, where government can attach benefits or sanctions to the exercise of religious practices; we invite, at a minimum, debasement of religious freedom and, ultimately subjugation and destruction of it. Co-Written By Vaishali – Author Of You Are What You Love and Wisdom Rising: Using Buddha’s example of the via negativa, we might get just as much insight into the absence of awakening by taking a closer look at Fudd, the alter-ego of Bugs, and see what emerges. Because Vaishali’s structure is so perfect, I’m going to use it in this post. It has the added advantage of including the “awakened” position side by side with its corresponding “asleep” position. So let’s get started. (more…)
Written By Aime McCrory: As some of you may know, I have an incredibly insightful 5 ½ year old son who was born with a heart condition. “This child will need heart surgery before 6 months, and I invite you to prove me wrong!” a top pediatric cardiologist, an “expert” in this field, arrogantly advised us. So, almost six years later, and against all “expert” medical diagnosis and predictions, my son has yet to have the open-heart surgery.
At about the same time our son was born, my husband and I also founded The Business Muse, our publicity and consulting company. While writing our business plan, we also sought out “expert” advice. This “expert,” armed with statistics, warned us that 95% of all businesses fail in the first year, and 50% by the fifth year. With those odds of success, another financial “expert” recommended, “Don’t quit your day jobs. Almost all businesses operate in the red in the first two years.” Again we also chose to ignore the daunting stats. Almost six years later, The Business Muse has not only survived but also flourished… despite these “experts’” advice. (more…)

Lucid dreaming is a state of consciousness where the dreamers are fully aware that they are asleep, and that what they are experiencing is a state of reality completely manufactured by the dreaming mind. Just about everyone has experienced a flash of lucid recognition during a dream — knowing that they are in fact “just dreaming.” However, lucid dreaming as I am defining it here is a more intensified and sustained state of dream realization. At its best, lucid dreaming is a completely conscious state of mind where the doors to the conscious and unconscious minds are fully open to each other — available for exploration, examination and to be fearlessly embraced. Next to the notions that one can achieve a body without cellulite and a life without suffering, the greatest mistaken belief is that there is one diet, one type of oil, one form of exercise, one hormone supplement, one mantra or prayer, one rigid organizational life structure, or one medication that will work for everyone. Most of us grew up with the “magic bullet” concept that science was going to invent this one universal panacea that would solve our problems throughout all of time. And if you operate from the Western mechanistic paradigm, which dictates that every person is basically no different from any machine, like your car, then this idea makes sense.
Everybody has a heart, two lungs, kidneys, a brain and a digestive system; therefore all bodies are the same. However, the Eastern systems of self-healing – Indian Ayurveda, Tibetan Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine – see human life as a completely different construct. They operate from an energy paradigm and view every person as a Universe unto themselves; each one completely different. (more…)
