NEW YORK, July 7, 2010 – Troy Media | US President Barack Obama made every mistake in the book in managing the BP oil spill.

That’s the opinion of Washington, D.C.-based maverick congressional attorney Jonathan W. Emord, who’s built an impressive reputation defending constitutional rights and freedoms. Emord, 49, earns a very decent living “suing the government,” as he puts it, on issues concerning health, drugs and the environment. He loves a fight, and if there is a cause behind it that he feels strongly about, odds are he’s likely to win.  This pugnacious attorney enjoys telling reporters he has successfully sued the US Food and Drug Administration seven times.

No ulterior motives

While his clients are typically big-pocketed large corporations, Emord made a point of saying he doesn’t have a vested financial interest in the BP crisis or an axe to grind. He’s not being paid to harpoon the president. He’s voicing his opinions as an expert and an informed observer of government, particularly its regulatory agencies. ”I wanted to understand why decisions were made,” he says. Emord candidly expresses amazement over the “peculiar way in which the Obama administration responded to the situation – particularly the way it failed to respond to the crisis immediately.” (more…)

In Taiwan there is a device known as a Taiwanese monkey trap. It is a simple box made of open wooden slats. A banana is placed inside the box, and it is clearly visibly through the open slats. There is a hole in the box just large enough for a monkey’s open hand to reach through. Once the monkey has a grip on the banana, the trap is sprung: the monkey now finds the hole is too small for a closed fist clutching a banana to pass back out again. There is actually nothing holding the monkey in the trap – except for its attachment to the banana. The monkey will stand there, one arm in the box firmly clutching the banana, for hours, even days. The monkey will remain there until the trappers return to bag the poor distressed creature easily, for the monkey will not relinquish its grip on the banana. (more…)

Wouldn’t it be great if life came with an owner’s manual and a warranty with a double your money back guarantee of complete satisfaction? That would be the ideal fantasy – no suffering, no fuss, no muss, no headaches, no assembly required. However, life does not come with any legally binding contracts of unconditional happiness. What most us here have already realized is that life is not a success only journey.

So how do we make the most of our time here on Earth? How do we learn to move forward when we have no idea of what direction life is taking us? These great and classic questions require great and classic wisdom. Over two thousand years ago in ancient Greece the quintessential philosopher, Socrates, said it best when he uttered those immortal words, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” To this day no one has improved upon this basic truth for owning and operating the human experience. So, let’s start here. (more…)

The Rise of Tyranny.  Available through Amazon.com:  The Rise of Tyranny uniquely proves the loss of individual civil and economic liberty as arising from destruction of the separation of powers and the transformation of the American republic into a bureaucratic oligarchy.  The book provides a detailed plan for restoring rights protections and resurrecting the Founders’ republic.

Jonathan W. Emord, principal of Emord and Associates is one of the nation’s leading free speech attorneys.  He has defeated the Food and Drug Administration seven times in Federal court, more times than any other attorney in history. He is the 2007 recipient of the Cancer Control Society’s Humanitarian Award and is the only non-scientist ever appointed to the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists (vice-chair).

Congressman Ron Paul says “All freedom-loving Americans are in debt to Jonathan Emord for his courtroom [victories.]” Formerly an attorney in the Reagan Administration’s Federal Communications Commission, Emord has practiced law in Washington for over twenty-five years.  He is routinely consulted by industry, Congress and the media on regulatory issues that affect health freedom.  He is the author of the critically acclaimed books: The Rise of Tyranny (2008); and Global Censorship of Health Information (2010). From 2004 to the present, the DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart has revoked over 54 licenses of distributors of over-the-counter cough and cold remedies that compete with Pfizer (maker of Sudafed) and Wyeth (maker of Primatene) in the ephedrine market.  She has not once brought a case against, or revoked the registration of, a single distributor of the Pfizer and Wyeth brands even in the presence of state convictions of illicit diversion of those products to the methamphetamine trade.  (more…)

I have always looked to comedians as disseminators of sage wisdom. I have written about both Bill Hicks and Lenny Bruce as spiritual teachers disguised as stand-up comics. So it didn’t surprise me when I was up late one night, turned on the tube, and there in HD living color was a talk show host and a comedian talking about the highly charged issue of gay marriage. Out of the blue the comedian pointed out the most obvious and yet collectively overlooked epiphany. He started out with a statement that completely transcended all religious dogma and political ideology: “I appeal to your sense of greed. Gay marriage … it simple makes good business sense.” (more…)

Ephedrine-containing cough and cold remedies can be converted (cooked) into illicit methamphetamine. For over a decade, Congress has repeatedly taken the Drug Enforcement Administration to task for not doing enough to stem the flow of methamphetamine. As with all things in Washington, the fight to stem the flow has been accompanied by a heavy dose of government corruption.

Practice. Whatever you practice giving your attention to is what you become most proficient at doing.  If you give a lot of attention to worrying, the “what ifs,” you have successfully practiced fragmenting off from the present, and into the future. If you have a habit of judging and criticizing yourself or others, then you have a well developed practice of living in the would have, should have, could have, might have been moment… (more…)

The Health Care Reform law is destined to make universally applicable the coverage criteria used by Medicare for Medicare beneficiaries. That is particularly bad news for physicians who value their independent professional judgment, and it is disastrous for patients who expect their physicians to cater to their interests rather than the insurance carrier’s. The President’s bill makes monopolies out of health insurers, makes them proxies for government “qualified” services, and replaces physician judgment with health carriers’ decisions concerning the level, degree, nature, and quality of care to be afforded patients.
